Campaign Story
Michael and I have been married for 4 years, and we’ve been trying to conceive for the past 18 months. Our journey has had its challenges, but we remain hopeful.
Prior to meeting me, my husband Michael had a vasectomy after the birth of his second son, as he felt his family was complete at the time. However, over 20 years later, he met me, and he never thought he would have a second chance at love, let alone have another child. Michael underwent a vasectomy reversal in June 2023, and we’ve been trying to conceive ever since, but without success so far.
The doctors have informed us that we have only a 1% chance of conceiving naturally, due to a combination of factors. In 2006, I was diagnosed with pre-cervical cancer, which required the removal of a portion of my cervix. Ten years later, I had another procedure to freeze part of my cervix due to pre-cancerous cells returning. I also suffer from endometriosis and have had two related surgeries.
Additionally, I have faced other health issues, including hyperthyroidism, which led to the removal of my thyroid in May 2024. Prior to this surgery, my hormones were so out of balance that conceiving naturally would have been nearly impossible. However, since the surgery, my endocrinologists have confirmed that there should be no reason why I cannot conceive.
Given the low motility of my husband’s sperm, our fertility specialist has advised that IVF is our best option for conceiving. Unfortunately, our health insurance does not cover any of the costs associated with IVF procedures or medication.
To achieve our goal of having a healthy baby, we have set up a fundraiser, and we would greatly appreciate any support you can provide on this journey.
